Oh the world thinks
That our own heartache
Is what cripples us

For fear of stings
Nodding as we pass
One barely apparent one
To the other our
Desire nothing more than
Spiny secrets that drag
Behind leaving a wisp
Of what once was
I fear for this
World not my world
My world’s behind me
I fear for this
Your world I can’t
Understand nor did I
Ever imagine that this
Could’ve ever been that
When I was young
But now as I
Look down upon you
Tucked up so tightly
In your precious bassinet
I worry for you
This world of yours
The hardest thing to
Admit to yourself at
Any given time is
How little anyone cares
I don’t expect to
Be rescued I don’t
Expect the Calvary to
Arrive but would it
Hurt to have one
Good Samaritan ask me
Why oh why Lord
Has the whole world
Become so horribly selfish
I have spun my
Wishes together combining threads
Of person and place
Into my futures tapestry
To either hang huddle
Or hold against me
But really to share
With another woven therein
