I have never
Seen two birds
Bump into each
Other in flight
We were lucky
Then to be
Humans instead of
Birds weren’t we
I have never
Seen two birds
Bump into each
Other in flight
We were lucky
Then to be
Humans instead of
Birds weren’t we
Awake I am
Writing with you
Asleep around me
Your breathing shallow
Keeps time with
These words stirring
You feel my
Distance even in
Sleep rolling next
To me you
Grab my hand
Away from the
Keyboard placing it
Upon your chest
Where I feel
You beat this
Morning giving pause
To these words
We are like
A River at
First strong deep
Then we went
Our separate ways
Saturating the landscape
With our richness
But like all
Rivers we will
Meet again at
The oceans start
Can a bird
Sing when flying
Or does it
Sit silent while
Wandering much like
You I wonder
Do you sing
Songs of me
When you’re fleeing
Or are your
Words only spoken
When you return
Oh I see now
The way that were
Are just simple shadows
And there you stand
Naked against the sun
You thought that maybe
I couldn’t write you
A poem with four
Words per line but
I promise you this
I can do anything
That you wish
Except that
Right
