Over (to Bean)

Why oh why

When the message

That I await

Comes my heart

Bleeds

Why do I

Pound

These nails into

My hands why

Do I suffer

So

I let you

Go so why

Why oh why

Do you come

Back

Except to remind

Me of what

I’m missing and

What

What what what

You left behind

We’re done aren’t

We done done

Take your nails

And hammers and

Go on home

Spider

And this morning

As I enjoyed

My coffee the

Strangest spider kept

Dancing across thigh

Hand and finger

I swatted plucked

And pinged it

Off me until

I realized that

It was you

Visiting me in

Your sleep reminding

Me with your

Little dance that

You’re still here

SandCastle (to Jay)

Oh we spent

Time building our

Sandcastle with pails

And shovels and

Hands pushing and

Forming and scraping

With gleeful abandon

When one huge

Wave erased everything

Gone now it

Is choose we

Must rebuild it

Or head down

The beach hand

In hand looking

For a safer

Harbor for dreams

Lashing (to Jay)

And then I

Snapped like a

Wet towel growled

And barked like

A junk yard

Dog lunged like

A swamp alligator

And eventually saw

Before me moist

Eyes and tears

Why oh why

Did I do

That to you

And now we

Sit in the

Cold silence like

Late January winters

Frozen in place

NakedPoetry

Writing poetry is

Like standing in

Front of a

Lover naked for

The first time

There’s nothing between

You and them

Except

You and them

Take me as

I am as

I take you

Let us make

Something anything

That takes us

Away

Let this be

Ours

And tomorrow we

Will go back

To our everyday

Life knowing that

Yesterday we enjoyed

Just each other
