I find love 
in my friendships 
whether they old
or maybe new
friends are where 
I find love 
where I can 
be my self 
wholly and unbridled 
and where then
I see myself 
in a little 
piece of them 
for the love 
that friends have 
is the love 
that hearts keep 

It has always been 
about the laughing you 
whether it is quiet 
like springs call from 
the very first robin
or one of those 
knee slapping belly holding 
and bell pealing guffaws 
but my favorite one 
is the roll over 
and looking at me 
in the nights moonlight 
smiling eyes in the 
dark sleepy grin kind

It’s no surprise to 
me that we have 
each other again for 
we each went through 
something extraordinary and shouldered
the hard work alone 
making us stronger together 
I am for him
as he is for 
me each others reward 
from the Universe Itself 

It’s just strange 
this so many 
people from my 
past reaching out 
to me again 
retelling and reminding 
me of just 
how much I 
meant to them 
how such kindness 
hasn’t been seen 
so it’s remembered
we never know 
how many hearts 
we ever touch 

Life it seems 
has forgotten us 
in the dark 
dreams yet had
we lay here 
waiting and waiting 
and then something 
says to someone 
good night babe 
and then life
once again returns
