The bottom is a
funny place for it’s
never where you’d expect
The bottom constantly moves
either up or down
and sometimes even sideways
and even when you
think that you’ve reached
it it’s not there
Maybe there is no
bottom but rather a
series of lower ups
that trick us into
thinking that everything can
always be better though
it seldom really is

which often is not
at all and infrequently
is a few times
but how many times
have books been skipped
because of their covers
before their words were
ever read or how
many dishes on a
buffet have been avoided
because they weren’t attractive
perhaps we’d all be
better off blind having
to decide on whether
or not we desire
something based upon how
it feels or tastes

enough and sometimes love
is too much and
sometimes love is just
enough and sometimes love

I can’t separate my
passion from my love
nor my love from
my passion just like
you can’t separate the
heat from the sun
from the clouds that
produce rain or the
cold that turns summer
into fall sometimes some
things can’t be one
thing without being another
which is why my
dear Bean it’s best
for both of us
to be absolutely nothing
now to each other
for being absolutely nothing
is always going to
be easier than something
BeAlone
We all just have
one thing to do
in this our life
and that’s to find
our comfort within ourselves
not with anyone else
just with ourselves alone
And others hate that
for they are convinced
that we need them
when in fact we
might prefer but don’t

For the first time
in forever for the
first time in ever
for the very first
time at all whatsoever
I dragged myself out
of bed and hurried
outside to see the
sunrise over the plains
sitting here alone just
me my cigar my
jazz and my self
content in knowing that
whosoever should witness this
will either think me
crazy or lonely or
even romantic preferring alone
to being with others
