In this
the dark
morning before
coffee sun
I sit
and wonder
and dream
listening to
the growls
of day
aging dog
rising slowly
and making
its way
to dish
and door

Parts
The heart
it has
no eyes
only fingers
with which
to touch
the mind
it does
have eyes
and yet
it’s blind
to both
Place
Imagine a place
that is you
all day every
day every moment
and every hour
it’s a reflection
and an expression
an opportunity and
possibility of you
if I could
I’d bring you
here and let
you know me
but I know
you not yet
but when I
do then this
place will surely
be you too
Day
As the clock
chimes the hour
I am reminded
just how much
and how little
of it’s left
on and on
we merrily go
dodging rain clouds
looking for sun
and these few
briefest of moments
amidst the mountains
and the wildflowers
in the wilderness
of cotton sheets
and downy blankets
we find familiar
little things like
wrinkles eyes and
oh those lips
Listen
Listen to
thy heart
and silence
the mind
hear its
quiet whisper
beckoning you
to go
for here
belongs to
the mind
and where
there is
so is
the heart
