Putting my wars
to rest I
unwrap the last
of my bandages
and like a
surveyor study their
contours wondering how
given all these
I ever survived
the suffering blows
but remembering then
that these are
just flesh wounds
and the lethal
blows have always
been taken by
my delicate heart

Pennies
It is in
this then now
that I do
as I have
done and always
did this thing
of similar things
just me here
having already had
and like a
child counting pennies
I conclude that
I’m very rich
having collected as
many as I
have finally had
Enough
Enough is enough
has always been
a bad thing
but what if
enough was enough
and that was
not something that
someone else did
but rather you
Blues
Now when blue
comes to bathe
settling languidly on
my duvet cover
the white stripes
reflecting just like
your eyes do
of mine when
I look deeply
beyond your beautiful
browns and down
into your soul
seeing there too
this very blue
Clouds
Wispy clouds
slowly appear
white from
the depths
of darkness
like angels
descending from
Heaven moving
closer and
then not
knowing that
I am
not the
one to
receive grace
