Hush

Quiet mind a
sleepy toddler strapped
into the backseat
dozing into dreamland
nary a peep
so strange this
for I too
am feeling the
cadence of comfort
the bumps and
the stops/starts like
a familiar crib
that I once
knew long ago

SimpleMan

I want more
than anything else
to be known
as a simple
man who wrote

what his heart
knew and what
his soul said
what his eyes
saw and his

mind heard and
that is all
that I ever
want anyone to
know about me

Forward

Now I want
to go deeper
and not farther
for far I
have been but
rather deep into
the crevices and
cracks of the
crevasse I am
to mine and
find the nuggets
buried there when
I was born

Sleep

From my windows
I hear the
night distant caterwauls
speed somewhere else
and the death
of day in
this humid silence
I feel nothing
but quiet peace
the pain of
life a blanket
I’m a simple
man falling asleep
