Valentine (to Cal)

So I promised

A poem to

You on Valentines

Day one day

When poems burst

From greeting cards

As quickly as

Sins in confessionals

On Good Friday

But this poem

Has but five

Simple words followed

By two others

Followed by your

One simple one

Word answer will

You be my

Valentine will you

HappyBirthdayPiggy

Do you remember

When or how

We did meet

Hey or hello

But Piggy oh

Piggy we became

Friends and the

Occasional lover but

More you became

A vase in

Which the bouquets

Of my poems

Sat blossoming and

Blooming for the

World to see

Readers help me

Wish Piggy a

Warm birthday on

This happiest happiest

Happy of days

Happy Birthday Piggy

BlindSpot (for Chelsie)

Like that one

Spot that you

Cannot see in

Mirror or over

Shoulder that one

Spot where you

Know something is

But simply cannot

See you fly

Blind into blizzards

Or trees or

Posts or maybe

Just maybe him/her

ForeverFriends (to Muenster)

Lovers are like

Newspapers crisp a

Bit fragile and

Temporary read once

But you Muenster

You’re like my

Favorite book highlighted

And dog eared

Used and read

At the ready

When comfort is

Needed or like

The oak under

Which I nap

On lazy summer

Afternoons your canopy

Outstretched protecting me

Nest (to Dewayne)

We dance the

Dance the pirouette

Of interest and

Curiosity like hummingbirds

Bobbing about the

Same sugary feeder

Called us we

Hover and dive

Picking up pecks

Of sweet nectar

Or like starlings

Hopping amongst twigs

We look for

That special wood

Which would make

Our nest complete
