When we accept what
Is bad as normal
We willfully accept imprisonment
We abdicate our freedom
And then our minds
Accept the abuse given
We surprisingly get comfortable
The only way out
Is by trusting that
Even the unknown is
Better it is difficult
To turn away from
Even what is bad
But trust your heart
Your mind is wicked
Now what meant so
Much before means nothing
Now the strands of
Importance that I weaved
Together creating a life
Was no stronger than
Spider silk alleged beauty
But in fact a
Mirage and quickly disappearing
When tested now that
I’m in my tomorrow
New things not old
Will be the gold
With which I weave
I am on the
Cusp rather than the
Precipice I was staring
Into the abyss wondering
But now I straddle
It having gotten one
Foot on the other
Side there’s newness here
I can feel it
Knowing that with just
A few more steps
I will leave darkness
And leap into light
