It’s time to go
I made a promise
And I’m keeping it
I promised to be
With you at Christmas
I never break promises
I’m coming I’m coming
It’s time to go
I made a promise
And I’m keeping it
I promised to be
With you at Christmas
I never break promises
I’m coming I’m coming
There is something romantic
About craziness being outside
Of all the boxes
People are always pointing
And shaking their heads
But deep down inside
I have always known
That they were wishing
Take me along too
When all there is
Is what there is
Things sour become bitter
And begin to stink
Sometimes with all things
You just let go
To all things known
And dive head long
Into very cold water
Biting and biting still
Emerging with an apple
Sometimes there are those
In life that say
Oh what the fuck
Grit teeth and jump
I’m one of those
Oh we get punched
Punished and usually bruised
We always stand up
We are driven to
Be different not because
We want to be
But because we can
And even still at
My older age I’d
Rather leap than stay
I don’t seek safety
I never ever have
You know every leaf
Is content being green
Because it doesn’t know
What fall feels like
And once it does
It’s never leaf again
It becomes something more
And so I go
I have always wondered
What gymnasts see tumbling
I’ve talked to some
And here’s something remarkable
They don’t see anything
Their mind is focused
On the next landing
What if we all
Are like the acrobats
Jumping turning and flying
And that just maybe
All that really matters
Is sticking your landing
And then looking back
In awe of it
