TooLate

I’m not exactly sure

Which is harder saying

Goodbye or hearing it

Both leave looming silence

As though you’ve just

Struck a light pole

Where’d that come from

And then days later

The pain sets in

That gnawing deep ache

Light poles and goodbyes

Are similar we get

So used to them

Simply quietly flying by

That until they stop

Us dead to life

We hardly even notice

That they’re even there

Immortality

Don’t waste your life

Pursuing fame for immortality

Resides in the hearts

And minds of those

Who will survive you

Be the talk of

The campfire be the

Story and laughter at

The holiday bring joy

To others now it’ll

Still be there long

After you are gone

SetSail

You know at first

It’s so damned hard

To let him go

But like a vessel

First set to sea

That place the old

Place gets smaller and

Smaller with each passing

Hour then you’re nowhere

And then finally then

You are somewhere else

New full of promise

And not broken promises

Penny

There is just something

About this one tarnished

And dented penny that

Makes me keep it

In my pocket when

I feel it when I

Look at it I

Don’t think about all

Of the millions of

Other pennies I think

Only of this one

Because it is different

Time

Sometimes it’s just time

Time to fall time

To hope time to

Realize and always time

To feel whatever time

It is trust me

I will know for

My heart is an

Hour glass which turns

Until it eventually stops

Which of course then

Means time is up

Time to go and

Finally time to grow
