I never knew
Just how far
Away two hundred
Eighty miles was
I’ll tell you
It’s the same
Exact distance as
The moon far
For me to
Get to you
I might as
Well be going
To the moon
That’s how far
Far away now
Is to me
I never knew
Just how far
Away two hundred
Eighty miles was
I’ll tell you
It’s the same
Exact distance as
The moon far
For me to
Get to you
I might as
Well be going
To the moon
That’s how far
Far away now
Is to me
He told me
To write a
Poem so here
Goes
I’m like a
Pasture that’s been
Scarred by the
Heavy wheeled machinery
Meant to plant
Grow and harvest
But that have
Additionally turned me
From pristinely pastoral
Into just another
Few acres of
Raped pillaged profit
A long time
Ago in a
Faraway land called
Romance you showed
Your interest in
Another with conversation
An evening walk
Or sometimes even
Flowers and candy
But today in
The land called
Apps it’s performed
By a tap
Or a wink
Or a woof
Or a smile
Or even I
Suppose swipe right
Just once more
One more time
We will meet
Then I’m gone
The series finale
Only ever reruns
To be watched
Kept and revered
Let this time
This last time
Be the one
Which wins awards
Enjoys the applause
And most watched
Until our reunion
Episode eventually airs
When you’re quiet
I know that
You’re doing things
Other than me
But your silence
Brings no comfort
For I sit
Waiting for the
Radio that you’ve
Become that I’ve
Learned to rely
To find its
Station so I
Can sing along
