Sitting on my balcony
after eating our dinner
enjoying the early evening
sun as it creeps
slowly lower in sky
our wine glasses tinking
as they touch between
bad jokes and laughter
this is precisely how
a Denver summers evening
would be I imagined

I remember kissing you
just as I remember
your kissing of me
I don’t remember feeling
anything in particular actually
feeling no knowing yes
knowing that those kisses
