NightTime

The night outside

Glows through the

Slats of window

Softly as though

My yard had

Been blanketed by

A midnight snowfall

Or like Venus

Hailing its moon

To cool my

Night in subtle

Shades of blue

And gray as

I recall that

One night in

Curitiba on the

Beach as low

Tide tickled the

Sandbar beneath your

Naked silhouette while

The Orange dawn

Broke yellow upon

Your brown skin

Sleeping

One of my

Favorite things to

Do is watch

You sleep everything

Else is far

Away and you’re

Simply there smiling

And listening to

The heavens angels

Rest well my

Love I’ll see

You when you

Return to me

Eternity

There are constants

In life like

The sun and

Moon the seasons

Migration and then

There’s us we

Are simply not

We are lucky

Both in life

And love live

Your best life

And love as

Often as you

Can for in

This world we

Are temporary while

The rest is

Magnificently grandly eternal

FoolishLove

I’ve done foolish

Things but I

Am no fool

Love does this

To us it

Makes us behave

In ways that

Are followed by

Chagrin and blushing

Like the early

Evening sun’s crimson

Rays as it

Says good night

To the moon

CharlotteApril

Spring has once

Again returned here

Trees are popping

April buds like

Crackers at Christmas

And Daffodils Tulips

And early Daisies

Dance in yards

Like robed choir

Singers at Baptist

Sunday church service

Irises and Peonies

Begin to yawn

With short stalks

Of leafy green

Like barren flagpoles

Saul is bashfully

Warm like the

Blushing cheeks of

Teenagers at their

First mixed dance

This is today

Here in Charlotte
