We all make
A mark somewhere
In this life
Sometimes as broad
As shoveling
A path through
Snow drifts or
The placement of
Bread atop refrigerators
That change how
We see things
Or find things
Yet some are
As subtle as
A thumbprint on
Those you love
We all make
A mark somewhere
In this life
Sometimes as broad
As shoveling
A path through
Snow drifts or
The placement of
Bread atop refrigerators
That change how
We see things
Or find things
Yet some are
As subtle as
A thumbprint on
Those you love
In love we
Tend to chase
What we want
And avoid what
We need true
Love is uncomfortable
And hurts but
True love teaches
Us hope in
Things beyond ourselves
There is nothing
As bad as
Being picked over
Chosen over others
There’s this purity
Being all alone
In a world
Of others perhaps
Now it’s your
Time to fly
Am I done
Have you finally
Arrived at B
When we initially
Started at A
And then others
Exposed him then
For someone that
He knew he
Was yet he
Didn’t want others
To know until
They discovered him
For himself not
Because who he
Was but who
He was for
Them sound familiar
The most remembered
Are the most
Ridiculed in life
My best memory
Of Thanksgiving Day
Was so long
Ago and so
Simple that I’m
Surprised I remember
My mother sent
Me to the
Store to buy
Milk swaddled in
Heavy coat and
Cap I crossed
The playground and
Heard laughter and
Saw families gathering
Like swarms of
Bumblebees hugging golden
Sunflowers and then
As if by
Magic heaven itself
Shed its manna
And the lightest
Of snow began
To fall and
This is what
Thanksgiving means to
Me Happy Thanksgiving
