You wearing sweatpants and
A Ho Ho Ho
Sweater struggling with strands
And strands and STRANDS
Of on now off
Now on now lights
As I watch you
Grow red with frustration
When I suddenly pull
You into my lap
And tell you quietly
Into your throat that
This is my absolute
Favorite part of Christmas
Just how much
Is too much
When our wants
Turn into needs
The very fabric
Of civilized humanity
Is ripped apart
I for one
Only ever want
What I need
The rest I
Leave for others
To fight for
Love always finds
The heart to
Which it belongs
Be patient heart
Why do I keep
Looking for that which
I will never find
Not that it’s lost
It’s just never been
By virtue of that
Is it a dream
Or is it creation
For everything that is
Was once was not
And then suddenly was
So perhaps even maybe
I will find that
What is in here
Some where out there
Wouldn’t that be marvelous
The closer I get
The less I worry
Like driving in mountains
Serpentine roads that cut
Through towering rock my
Dreams of what’s coming
Just around the bend
Sights I may see
Laughter I might have
Friends I will make
Makes this winding drive
This up over around
It’s very own destination
