I will indeed
Give you little
Just a few
Words like crayons
Upon which you
Can then draw
I will indeed
Give you little
Just a few
Words like crayons
Upon which you
Can then draw
So what does one
Do with all the
Dreams not yet fulfilled
When does one stop
After having lost my
Love of a lifetime
I decided to charge
Like a raging bull
Into a colosseum chock
Full of unsuspecting matador’s
Flinging them this way
And that only to
Find that I’m no
Less angry and disappointed
And now in another
New town and place
I begin to wonder
Do I put away
My horns and frustration
And simply graze contentedly
On the far forty
Acres enjoying the view
And become just one
More of the many
Put out to pasture
Why does the idea
Of mortality only strike
The old what about
Age makes one think
That it’s running out
Just think about that
What makes young and
Inexperienced charge at life
While when we’re older
We duck for cover
What is it that
The young have and
That we older lost
What causes ones surrender
You’d think that experience
Would make generals of
Us all plotting scheming
But instead we watch
As the young weaponized
Only with sword and
With verve launch themselves
Into an unforgiving army
Of humanity while the
Rest of us older
Ones reminisce of our
Once head long charges
Why don’t we fight
Like our younger comrades
For what we want
The hardest thing
To face is
That you’re not
Not going to
Be not going
To have not
Going to keep
And not going
To get so
What do you
Do with a
Life that is
Missing things you
Sit and you
Count your blessings
For all of
The marvelous things
That you do
Have did and
Loved and you
Allow those memories
To fly freely
Oh how I wish
That we lived in
A perfect world a
World filled with happiness
And joy and peace
But we simply don’t
Rather we live in
A world of despair
Of heartbreak and heartache
Of loneliness and abandonment
Our real job therefore
Is as simple as
That single beach child
Creating a world with
Shovels buckets and sand
