Bean told me today
that his little brother
at the wise age
of three admitted his
happiness was because he
loved Bean that’s truth
I reminded Bean for
only three year olds
speak nothing but innocent
truths which by the
way is the same
language spoken in Heaven

Horologist
And now it’s before
the day still belonging
to the night the
house still belonging to
the chill and the
coffee still belonging to
the bean this before
is my favorite time
a quiet peaceful time
before you eventually stir
and stretch being coaxed
by the sun rising
the heat of the
fire and the aroma
of coffee I enjoy
your laziness there knowing
that I’m like your
very own horologist winding
you up starting your
pendulum and regulating the
ticking of your heart
for your upcoming day
Cities
I have lived everywhere
And I have learned
some things about life
Mainly that cities look
alike except for the
terrain and the backdrops
which surround them like
someone dropped a big
dollop of concrete and
glass into a bowl
that nature has created
What makes a place
different are the people
living there I know
that we behave like
bees bobbing busily about
going here going there
but each time one
alights upon me like
I’m a prairie wildflower
I change I gain
and I lose things
that I take and
give away sending a
bit of myself with
them to the next
flower or even home
Future
Our future is just one step away. Sometimes we crawl and other times we leap. The important thing isn’t how we do as much as that we do. Go on. Every adventure starts somewhere.
NowAfterThat
I really think that
I died in Charlotte
a part of me
anyway I lived amongst
bedbugs and around rodents
my food was stolen
my clothes never washed
Everything that I held
important was slowly and
systematically chipped away like
a toddler to a
brick wall and with
each passing day I
felt the bricks of
myself squeeze and fall
tighter together but never
giving way until one
day I pulled what
was left of myself
up declaring no more
With what was left
of the fumes of
hope and with nothing
but the will that
anything would be better
I boarded a plane
and flew to dreamland
But this dreamland in
which I now live
is no dream in
fact it’s my awakening
from the nightmare that
I had lived before
