One of the hardest
things you’ll ever decide
is what you want
Oh we know what
we always dream about
who we’ll be with
and where we’ll live
and how famous and
rich we will be
But those are dreams
What we want questions
often begin to surface
when what we have
is beginning to fall
short fade and crumble
A friend of mine
once suggested that rather
than trying to decide
what we want instead
admit what we don’t
just like when I
have struggled with the
notion that God is
everything which brings with
it lots of thinking
whereas thinking that God
is also nothing brings
with that idea peace
think less to know

I have enjoyed a
great life filled with
adventure and many opportunities
I have felt loved
and I have given
love and I have
laughed
not just at things
or at others or
at other’s things but
at myself as well
And now as I
sit in this my
last phase of life
I spend most time
in front of the
mirror and reflecting most
upon my wrinkles for
it is within them
where I can see
all of the others
who’ve walked with me
FriendlyLovers
I enjoy my lovers
but cherish my friends
and sometimes if I’m
really lucky they conjoin
that is the birthplace
of relationship ignited by
the flame of love
it’s the full wind
at your back the
extended arms inviting embrace
the turned head and
wave as one departs
and the silent wink-smile
of some inside joke
only two do know
when amongst many others

And I’m sitting here
with four generations of
women and as surprising
as to me being
a man they appear
to be just girls
girls talking about girls
things painting their nails
and hairstyles and dresses
I don’t think that
I can describe just
how cute and beautiful
they all really are

love loving and now
at this late stage
I have finally learned
that love is not
an expression sex is
an expression love is
That’s all that love
is Love is So
before you run out
to have sex in
order to find love
remember that sex is
an expression of something
else it’s always an
expression of something else
