I adore summer days
especially in the high
desert of Denver where
the sun is hot
the breeze cool and
the leaves in the
trees sing in whispers
as though they’re afraid
of awakening God Himself
There’s something about summer
which rejuvenates me and
more importantly my soul
the colors are brighter
the clothes are looser
the smiles are warmer
and the kisses well
the kisses last longer
longer and longer still

The sun kisses me
with possibilities it warms
my darkest corners and
the wind carries with
it my love affection
and care like elm
paratroopers spinning spinning round
and landing somewhere new

for hope and how
to remain in the
sun basking in the
idea of happiness found

forgiving others is easy
we all do it

try selfishness we all
have been selfish with

selfish with you being
almost anything with yourself

cornerstone of your happiness
No not your happiness
with others but only
