Lover(s)

I dreamt of

Lovers past and

Present they brought

Me joy like

That first snowfall

In late November

Full of wonderment

And awe like

That first tickling

Ahh upon dipping

Toes in a

Cool Wisconsin lake

And warmth like

That cabin fire

In Vermont after

An afternoon of

Sledding I awoke

Nestled beneath comforters

Knowing that I

Was loved and

In turn loved

LovePoem#9

It’s true that

We go together

Like grilled cheese

And tomato soup

Find comfort together

Like puppies sleeping

Fit together like

Letter and envelope

As different as

Winter and summer

Yet revolve around

Each other like

Sun and moon

Sharing the sky

Shining when the

Other is asleep

Subtle as winks

Grand as laughter

Looking

There are so

Many people looking

Looking for this

And that looking

For things outside

Looking for those

People that will

Complete them completely

Always looking ahead

Looking to what’s

Next looking around

The corner or

Across the room

Looking for that

Hint that glint

Of cautious interest

Of invitation of

Hope always looking

Away from where

They find themselves

Truth be that

The joy that

They look for

Is in the

Last place that

They look it’s

Oddly found there

Right with them

ToTheWorld (for Jay)

My dear boy

One of the

Hardest things to

Understand is the

Responsibility to others

That you have

Simply being who

You are yourself

To you you’re

No big deal

Young or old

But oh to

Others you’re an

Example of who

They might wish

To be never

Underestimate the gift

That you are

To the world

You’reMine (to Mr. B)

Oh how I

Had wished and

Hoped that that

One present hidden

Way in the

Back behind the

Pretty ones beneath

The big ones

Tucked almost out

Of sight the

One that caught

The glint of

Christmas morning sun

Was mine and

Finally after an

Explosion of paper

Boxes and ribbon

Presented to me

It was and

There inside was

Your smile the

Way you look

At me when

I don’t make

Sense the sound

Of your laughter

At last knowing

That you’re mine
