dancing away

never lead
or star
just an
extra cast
in the 
movie life 
don’t look
for me 
I play 
a ghoul 
and ghost 

Maybe it’s me
I’m the issue 
always have been 
always will be 
too little or
too much or
maybe not enough 
a dish thrown 
together without card
or page or
recipe a mishmash 
a succotash or
stew maybe gruel
or porridge or 
a veggie soup 
full of taste 
but never filling 
maybe it’s me
just a portion 
never a meal 

Blessings aren’t 
found in
the doing 
or having 
or seeing 
but in
the saying 
and feeling 
and thanking 
grace and 
gratitude and 
gratefulness are
more important 
as blessings 
for they
know and 
recognize appreciate 
and respect 

First wind
a fury
of anger 
rattling windows 
a ratatat
knocking let
me in
followed now 
by tears
of sorrow 
dabbles dabbing
clear panes
of pain
spring showers
don’t bring
just flowers 

I awoke 
to rain
a wee
pattering snare
tapping of
impatient nails
a far
away heartbeat 
little else 
than that 
in darkness 
I dry
here inside 
as the 
city and 
clouds cry
