And this absence 
and this emptiness 
explains why I 
keep staring down 
used to it
I guess hoping 
to find something 
anything other than 
the barrel bottom 
having already been 
scraped scratched and 
picked properly clean 
I but husk

Only die
knowing that 
you did
and not
that you 
should have 
for could
would and 
should have 
no place 
in eternity 

I have no 
intention or agenda 
no hope nor
desire deserves I
I am but
a leaf a
raindrop a snowflake 
bit of dust 
morsel or crumb
having once been 
something else entirely 
belonging to another 
but now oh
this is freedom 
to simply be 
one of many 

Peace does 
not prevent 
or prohibit 
nor does 
it provide
peace never 
permits or
ever promotes 
nor does 
it promise 
it certainly 
doesn’t protect 
peace is
just that 

The easiest way 
to get someone 
to love you 
is to be 
the kind of 
person that someone 
wants to love
