To scoop fortify
and maintain to
make better and 
deeper to build 
such are things 
made in sand
vulnerable and prone 
to ocean overwhelm 
for things built 
at the edges 
are the first 
to be swallowed 
it will take 
whatever it wants 
such are things 
built of grain

Being is
different from 
becoming different 
than before 
being is
not had
or having 
being better 
isn’t being 
different being
doesn’t know 
what it
ever missed
being does
as being 
is just 
being that

Absent of this 
empty of that 
keeper of peace
calm and serenity 
come and go 
stay a while 
yes and no 
and maybe too
just the water 
never the ice
this is me
then after all 

We all need 
to be heard
by others maybe 
even by ourselves 
our voice is 
the signature of 
our thoughts and 
the fingerprint of 
our mind our 
eyes speak for 
our souls and 
my lips well
they only speak 
for my heart
