Rain

The rain here
like most everything
comes from north
and my window
faces that way
some face west
too but north
is from where
all things come
including the rain
which now tap
dances on glass
little pitter patters
tiny interruptions asking
me for attention
maybe to talk
maybe to introduce
nature to me
I always turn
around see nothing
nature it appears
disappears teasing like
a child playing
hide and seek

Quiet

I choose quiet
today peace calm
and serenity over
people some music
mostly twinkling piano
dancing and twirling
about my head
and of course
coffee hot with
cream it too
tastes of quiet
and oh lights
inside and out
quiet little things
be near or
far tiny dots
or warm wash
I choose quiet
today before sunrise
starts its chaos

Thoughts

I have assembled
a few things
sculpture mostly placed
atop heralding forms
bodies mostly posing
almost all suggest
thought theirs mine
too maybe quiet
thought expressing thoughts
in natural ways
a few nudes
and one angel
they remind me
that all thoughts
are usually drawn
from something else
that thoughts aren’t
by their very
nature often original
but something else

PoisonedTap

Greed and selfishness
has all but
wrung out the
very few last
droplets of humanity
from the sour
dishrag that our
society has become
no longer finding
the fresh water
we drink from
poisoned taps believing
what we’re told
rather than trusting
our own instincts
and questioning those
elected to lead
repeatedly repeating come
drink from here
it’s cold clear
and so fresh
that you’ll forget
all about your
small miserable lives

MusicBox

I can feel
sleep behind eyes
prompting me like
an assistant to
go but sleep
I don’t for
my mind doesn’t
quiet it yaks
and yaks droning
on about droll
insignificant things when
all I want
is a music
box already wound
and singing a
sweet lullaby from
years past when
such things called
sleep to come
but I suppose
that was before
life set in
and my mind
pushed out all
of the pleasantries
