My mind
during deep 
thought is
my happiest
of happy
places and 
the best 
part is
that I 
never have 
to go 
very far 
to ever 
get there 

As I watch 
the sun stretch
and yawn across 
mountains and city
so do you 
stretch across me
and in bed 
I feel warmth 
like they do 
with you though 
I feel weight 
and the kiss
that only morning 
lovers can bring 
to each other 

It surprised me 
he surprised me 
for it was
he was not 
supposed to come 
to show up 
again after years 
but sometimes you 
and sometimes he 
and then sometimes 
we sometimes again 
love it seems 
is like water
once it flows 
it finds its 
way despite rocks 
and hills love 
finds its way 
bringing life back 
to the land 

I write when 
I’m like this 

because writing is 
I guess my
own best friend 

it’s here when 
not for long 
but here nonetheless 
when nobody else 
bothers to be

Have I ever 
really ever existed 
at all for 
anything any one 
thing that would 
ever give evidence 
to my being 
ever is gone 
whether at the 
hands of someone 
or of time 
I’m essentially a 
ghost real in
name only imagine 
what that’s like 
having lived long
only in memory 
one year last
is all I 
have and all
