coming together to 
make this harmony

I never thought 
that I would 
but I did
and that slope 
found me there
stuck in mud
at the bottom 
of the hill 
but it wasn’t 
the slope nor
even the hill 
that caused landslide 
but the rains 
of love that 
broke the treetops 
causing everything underfoot 
to give way 
and now years
later what had
been swept away 
by the monsoon
has been rebuilt 
stronger than before 
and maybe now 
we can see
the vista of 
what we us
you and me 
just could be 

In a few days 
you’ll be here
we will talk
likely catch up 
maybe even create 
but most laugh
I’m excited naturally 
timid as well 
I’m not sure 
what you’ll say 
if you’ll talk 
about your adventures 
maybe your feelings 
but I promise 
to patiently listen 
because last time
