When you overlook 
you don’t overcome 
you might overthink 
and maybe overdo
things overdue overtime 
but you won’t 
overthink things overall 
because by the 
time this happens 
that is over 

And then this 
one your one 
not that you’d
know I haven’t 
ever told you 
or anyone really 
that this one 
your one is
the only one 
the only one 
that whenever I 
hear and wherever 
I am and
whatever I’m doing 
have done and 
forever will do 
this one will 
be your one 
your only one 

Someone has to be 
the rock the root
the stump or the 
stone upon which others 
climb hold sit or
find so that those 
who do can change 
and the others can 
go on their merry
way until they will
eventually find theirs themselves 

A little of a
lot is still more
than missing it all 
this thinking that most 
is better than some 
makes me wonder why 
you created yourself to 
be so grand that 
nothing or no one 
no matter how hard 
they try or how 
much they work or 
how much they give 
will ever be enough 
and who’s problem is 
it anyway when the 
potter threw the clay
onto the wheel thinking 
I’ll make it really 
big to hold more

This wee hour 
when lights before 
meant to shine 
so sleepily dim
having done their 
job of showing 
pass the day
off to sun
who marches in 
saying it’s okay 
boys I’ll take 
if from here
