UpUp

Up up
I go
to one
then another
a bee
to flower
and bloom
touching this
then that
not I
yet awake
just familiar
with this
quiet place

Hopes

Finding myself half
in half out
weighing my options
day or doze
this lazy me
a few feet
finds me coffee
a few inches
finds me sleep
this in between
finds me now
nothing but naked
but hopeful that
back you’ll come
with my decision
already been made

Jingle

Lips that once
had launched ships
now sit tethered
to faces weathered
with fine lines
complicit in crimes
things like love
blessed from above
the lies that
broke the ties
leaving quiet sighs
and little guise

Awake

I hear
don’t see
city awake
I imagine
the ocean
this sound
lapping upon
some shore
knowing that
it is
concrete and
steel and
rubber and
all things
man and
nothing natural
so sad
that this
replaced that

Hushed

The powdery
dawn dusts
my room
soft blue
everything lays
in shadow
three shades
darker even
white turns
to gray
this very
hushed morning
