to pair with 
a sweet cannoli 

Do not disturb 
a sleeping dog

backpedal a boundary 
for neither will
move you forward 
keep things intact 
both guard your 
peace and quiet 

Just a thing 
or maybe two 
but never three
like sugar cubes 
oh no not 
much for me 
or like baseball 
three of these
three of those 
and your turn 
to bat ends

Sounds of just 
another cloudy day
the tumbling towels
heat kicking on
and oven preheating 
later I’ll make 
a cozy fire 
and enjoy what
of this day 
I have made 
and maybe snow 
I will see

Just doing things 
the normal things 
of daily life 
moving through rooms 
listening to music 
and drinking coffee 
checking the skies 
looking for snow 
and seeing none
