I never knew 
just how much
a frame cost
far more than 
the paint and 
canvas and vision 
that makes up 
the art inside 

Some see being 
alone as lonely 
but me I 
see it living
a solitary life
one of freedom 
as in liberty 
and of autonomy 
and of authority 
to simply do 
or not do 
too but either 
do or not 
are my decisions 
and nobody else’s 
so is peace

Oh I love 
slow kinda mornings 
when the coffee 
quickens to cool
before I even 
realize it’s cold 
nowhere to go 
nothing to do 
no one else 
just me and 
slow kinda mornings 
they’re the best 
of all kinds 
of other mornings 

Regret stems from 
thinking you didn’t 
but what if 
you really did
make the right 
decision based upon 
what you knew 
at the time 
don’t second guess 
life for even
what you might 
perceive as mistakes 
are indeed lessons 
that you then 
needed to learn 

Ghouls and goblins 
a scary sight 
of this night 
when they do
roam going boo
kids and teens 
trick or treat 
gather and meet 
and parents too
greet little who’s 
coming to door 
looking for more
