You have left
Yet I remain
Like the tide
Leaves the cliff
You have taken
Parts of me
There with you
Parts that I
No longer have
They’re yours now
To be deposited
Some where else
To make something
New for you
You have left
Yet I remain
Like the tide
Leaves the cliff
You have taken
Parts of me
There with you
Parts that I
No longer have
They’re yours now
To be deposited
Some where else
To make something
New for you
Like the spring
Came to winter
The thaw began
And warmed everything
That turned cold
Life began again
With one door
And one smile
Followed by rains
Of conversation and
Laughter and cajoling
And I bloomed
Yet once again
Sometimes in life
I set fire
To those things
Close to me
Not to watch
Them burn but
Rather to see
Which are strongest
This includes friends
Two nights ago
I ignited a
Firestorm call it
A controlled burn
Which laid waste
To almost everyone
In my path
For one reason
To give light
To new friends
And reduce others
To simple ash
Promoting new growth
The slow strings
Of the day
Started with patience
Until like a
Solo violin played
On some far
Off hill you
Turned to me
With your lilting
Hello sleep well
Actually I didn’t
Looking at you
Now in my
Arms and chest
I missed you
For in my
Dreams you weren’t
And like the
Harpsichord of Bach
Your toothbrush infused
Good morning wafted
Through the steam
Of a Mozart
Minute as the
Thunder of water
Started like the
Mars from Holst
Moist and toweled
You dropped to
The bed like
The delicate notes
Of Hayden as
Your lips touched
Mine like Rachmaninov
