The last of
Night surrounds me
Darkness haunts everything
Sleeps including these
Words trees blend
With sky creating
A blank canvas
Upon which the
Day will draw
The last of
Night surrounds me
Darkness haunts everything
Sleeps including these
Words trees blend
With sky creating
A blank canvas
Upon which the
Day will draw
Now the sky
Glows with gray
Clouds tinged by
Pink blushing from
Last nights escapades
They hover like
Dust from mother’s
Early morning makeup
Some crimson like
An accused child
Of peeking beneath
Desks as most
Of the sky
Is set ablaze
With God’s glory
The day starts
As a glow
Like a lamp
In a far
Off window getting
Brighter as one
Approaches the blackness
Hums with light
Trees cut-out silhouettes
Stand dark against
The bluing sky
Now an orchestra
Plays mornings melody
Crickets and birds
In soft harmony
Just when the
Darkness is deepest
The tiny firefly
Glows
Showing me the
Way to somewhere
Darkness creeps like
Nocturnal animals out
For the hunt
While despair grips
And squeezes out
Hope making the
Heart dusty dry
The one meaningless
Light blinking here
Come here here
And once again
Your life starts
Again not over
But freshly new
Big long yellow
School buses drive
Past me roaring
Like a pride
Of lions on
The Serengeti warning
Of their approach
As ant-like children
Climb aboard like
Business men off
To work last
Nights crickets still
Chirp as morning
Birds await their
Cues here today
