I’ve always been different
It runs through my
Veins like water through
A gorge I’ve always
Known that ever since
I was a child
So being gay seemed
Normal part and parcel
But to so many
Others being gay was
So unusual that they
Hid their uniqueness shied
Away from the others
Until June Pride Month
When the rainbow colors
Fly far and wide
For all the world
To see celebrating not
Just being LGBTQ+ but
Also everyone’s vibrant uniqueness
Between now and then
Most things happen then
Wherever now and then
Is whether it’s very close
Or very far all
The things are the
Things that make up
Your life it’s the
Between between now and
Then where you live
The now and end
Are simply the beginning
And the finish of
That part of life
Now ready set go
I find great comfort
In knowing you’re there
Like a far off
Land I once visited
I enjoy learning you
And your different ways
Your promises and dreams
But most of all
I like how you
Don’t fit in with
My life you challenge
Me and my ideas
It’s there right then
When I finally know
That my life is
Better promises to be
With you in it
Now that I think
About it the past
And the future only
Ever occurs in our
Minds but the present
The present only ever
Occurs in our hearts
Just one more time
One more look back
One more go at
Things one more time
To be together like
One more swing on
The tire one more
Trip down the slide
Like one more sunset
From the balcony together
One more taste of
Something gleefully ticklingly delicious
Things that you enjoy
Are never really over
There’s always one more
In reality or memory
