Nest (to Dewayne)

We dance the

Dance the pirouette

Of interest and

Curiosity like hummingbirds

Bobbing about the

Same sugary feeder

Called us we

Hover and dive

Picking up pecks

Of sweet nectar

Or like starlings

Hopping amongst twigs

We look for

That special wood

Which would make

Our nest complete

Pic (to Dewayne)

And after the

Chat the portrait

Arrived and like

A child watching

Fireworks my heart

Sped up and

My mouth uttered

Ooos and ahhhs

And I shook

With glee like

A dog in

From the rain

Candle (for Dewayne)

And there on

A road I

Saw a candle

Lit window aflicker

After my long

Journey past empty

Houses a light

Drew me there

And a stranger

Greeted me one

That became a

Friend and lover

And that one

Simple candle has

Never gone out

AloneBed

And then now

The world asleep

The moon slides

Like coins in

A phone box

Behind late winters

Sullen clouds I

Awake to find

The bed warm

But you gone

Your cars paw

Prints scratched into

Nighttime snow fall

Trailing into darkness

And disappearing ghostedly

Into skeleton trees

As my bed

Now cools alone

Chicken (for Ali)

And there you

Stood next to

Me beer in

Hand the smoke

From the barbecue

Rising between us

Like steam locomotives

At the Bahnhof

Caught staring you

Leaned through the

Smoke kissing me

Causing me to

Ignore our dinner

Now charred and

Brittle burned chicken
