Zombies

The gas station is
so is the burger
place the coffee shop
to all three up
lights on and ready
to do for those
unable to at home
cars pull up people
get out just zombies
sleep walking through life

Dark

I haven’t looked at
night in a while
not that it changes
as much as reminds
life it seems goes
on even while others
sleep and slowly rise
dawn always brings hope
for coffee at least
or tea I suppose
but who drinks tea

Calendar

The days stretch
now to weeks
maybe to months
before seconds became
minutes became hours
and hours into
days and days
into nights and
we were someone
but just when
we learned how
to dance the
hour glass ran
out of precious
sand and we
became a calendar
and a calamity

Kindly

I am happy
not the immediate
gleeful giddy kind
but the deep
sigh quiet kind
the no need
for anyone else
kind the self
silly crack me
up when no
one’s looking kind
the kindly kind

Chasm

Carry on like
nothing ever happened
the gap which
I minded now
becomes a chasm
stretching wider and
deeper once able
to step across
now impossible to
shout over and
into and nothing
to be heard
and now nothing
to be said
just know that
wherever you are
deep down below
or far on
the other side
I will see
you once again
