Sitting here
and watching
as snow
ever so
slowly falls
I’m reminded
of how
truly small
heartache is
when snowflakes
and snowfalls
bring halt
but I
and this
gnawing loss
stops nothing
clocks tick
people go
about business
all unaware
that the
world’s ending
Squirrel (to Bean)
I was thinking
of you today
but not you
today but yesterday
the you who
you have become
is as surprising
as the squirrel
I watch daily
touching new snow
familiar but uncertain
as to how
or even if
it should try
to find the
buried treasure beneath
Watch
I can no
more place a
snowflake upon a
tree than worry
about the folly
of man for
neither one have
I been charged
so allow them
I do to
go and watch
Sadly
This sadness
cast overboard
to lighten
now stuck
on rock
or crag
down below
and unseen
tethers me
to here
free I
am not
just circling
like some
debris around
a drain
Sea
In a boat
on an ocean
one that’s calm
no sail or
oar no wind
or current just
water and me
always the same
boat as thee
but the sea
it changes see
