Body

Once a planet
then a comet
finally a chunk
streaking across sky
slamming into stone
without so much
as a whisper
and then disappearing
becoming something else
a single silent
part of the
thing stopping me

Trail

And there right
there’s the gap
even the gaffe
some might say
no man’s land
called a friendship
nobody wants that
anymore people want
sex or love
but friendship that
lonely long bridge
between the two
has been washed
out by the
flash floods known
as selfish immediacy
whatever happened to
marinating and percolating
simmering and aging
the gap is
still there but
now it’s avoided
a trail too
treacherous for most
to even consider
or to traverse
much less enjoy

Little

Attention I sought
bravado I had
a false cockiness
a thin layer
hiding the hurt
pompous and pomade
things I thought
just might attract
but did not
rather they distracted
so goes window
dressing and pictures
putting on airs
to sell and
not to invite
now I am
what you see
and little else
this little me

Clock

I have
been lost
but found
not my
way back
but forward
for the
hands on
the clock
I am
only ever
move in
one direction

New

After a lifetime
and then another
a new one
but this one

is my one
my only one
to do as
I see fit

absent of others
except for myself
and this new
is new now
