Shed

As I peel
and then toss
the closer I
get to somewhere
heretofore untouched and
unfamiliar a place
maybe even thing
that before was
and now is
the shedding of
the shredding of
what was past
exposes me too
as I had
been long ago

Damned

There is
a point
and I’ve
found mine

a place
of understanding
and unwillingness
be damned

this point
this place
go hand
in hand

where once
yours went
in mine
be damned

ThatWe

But that’s just
me and I
am not you
had I been
I’d never have
but I did
and you did
too and we
did it together
and now look
now just look
look at this
thing that we

Been

I wonder
if then
we knew
now if
we would’ve
what we
could’ve rather
than not
had we
if we
wanted to
what we
said that
we did
had that
and not
this been
then been
there been
and everywhere
else been

Reflect

Funny thing life
at this age
things deemed critical
not so much
a sigh now
an oh well
not that there’s
tomorrow for those
most of them
anyway are behind
better they’re there
having been spent
rather than saved
for this now
is too broken
pieces of me
scattered left behind
anchors of time
holes where roots
had once held
nothing it seems
is important anymore
except maybe laughter
yes gimme laughter
