Treasure

One more
just one
be it
poem kiss
or touch
for just
how many
are men
afforded now
how many
precious things
should anyone
ever have
despite wanting
or needing
the gluttony
of treasures
doesn’t increase
their value
but rather
decreases same
make the
few count
cherishing one

Mouse&Lion (to Bean)

A mouse
once asked
a lion
why does
it bite

because said
the lion
to mouse
besides roar
it’s what
I do

but said
the mouse
to lion
try purring
it’s what
mice like

I will
come near
a purr
but run
away from
a roar
and never
be bitten
or smitten

Shoo

Piano haunts
teases me
beckoning me
come hither
quickly see
what is
your imagination
I turn
seeing you
still asleep
deep in
dreams cave
wondering if
there too
you hear
piano calling
come back
and or
if you
in dream
shoo it
away like
bothersome gnats

Dollop

At this lonely
dozy sleepy hour
the nights sky
wrings out the
last of starlight’s
glow turning the
black sky blue
as though a
giant or angel
added a dollop
of moon to
a cup of
hot dark coffee

Wakey (for Bean)

Sleep still
tucked in
behind eyes
thick thought
cleaved by
morning routine
just do
don’t think
days wit
will come
bringing desires
morning kiss
