The life of a poet takes its toll. Choose wisely.
Learn to disavow need
and begin to practice
want needing anything needing
anyone is slavery not
freedom freedom expresses itself
by choice not need
Step away from needs
make do do without
with out isn’t scarcity
scarcity is a by-product
of need abundance is
the expression of want
And a brown skinned
lad wandered away from
his house and towards
his home leaving his
family to search for
that which he sought
A very specific mango
tree which stood precisely
where he’d planted it
To this brown skinned
lad this tree said
home more than any
other place for its
roots were indeed his
Serenity is like a
delicately placed parfum meant
to allure and entice
to trail behind and
never announce to catch
those unaware to calm
those anxious to pause
life and allow those
wandering through its path
a moment to ponder
and to wonder the
most seductive delicious thought
of all what if
We all arrive at
one place having once
been at another life
is not a puddle
it’s a storm a
torrent a fury picking
up pieces of this
and pieces of that
and dropping them in
different places to be
discovered anew life is
about change about growth
that is unless you
are a puddle something
to be avoided to
be splashed in and
played with something temporary
something that was one
thing and now another
