Rest

If you upon
weary need rest
here you will
find awaiting you
always a place
next to my
hearth upon which
to warm whenever
and a place
to safely sleep
and upon waking
food to eat
and someone who
will listen to
your stories of
travel triumph treasure
and yes even
your own tragedies

Friends

If I wanted
you to disappear
I would’ve made
you a genie
one upon which
to happily wish
and then watch
but not genie
did I make
but rather man
made full of
hope and dream
of playful desire
and even despair
plump with humility
humanity and humor
my own whom
never a whomever
so wherever you
have gone come
back to me
my favorite friend
your fellow friend
is awaiting you

Boom (to Bean)

Silence welcome
except for
the hanging
absent kind
the kind
where presence
lingers like
a shadow
saying nothing
this causes
my mind
to randomly
race to
run faster
to each
every single
spoken thing
wondering was
it I
who struck
the match
making this
humid absence
go boom

Daybreak

And now
mountains shimmer
like rainbow
trout swimming
slowly upstream
purple then
orange and
finally white
as quiet
sun rises
and tall
buildings like
daffodils turn
towards it
basking in
the light
of early
morning sun

Mountain (for Bean)

I imagine
you as
mountain me
as explorer
I enjoy
discovering you
your valleys
and rainforests
the peaks
of shoulders
and the
shallow hips
the hills
of chest
and oh
the deepest
of dark
pools eyes
every day
as sun
does rise
and days
do set
I paint
my trails
of you
in mind
