reference point

for bad

things worse
doesn’t stick

friends first 
and monkey 
business followed
along by
intimate affection 
and desire 
but as
the tide
of same
went back 
to sea
we were 
but two 
children being 
besties and 
playing games 
in sand

I thought 
a magnet
but now 
I think 
a mirror 
not exact
in image 
but eyes 
oh yes 
for only 
those who 
have looked 
upon the 
heavens wishing
