We all do
most of us
who have turned
to other things
to buffer pain
or escape from
eventually arrive at
the same intersection
oh you’ll recognize
any of us
by our crutches
and the limp
in our gait
from the many
miles we’ve walked
to get there
Author: Harlan Didrickson
I first started writing this blog as a way to refocus my thinking after a debilitating mental breakdown in 2008. Having been educated in writing, I had hoped that my love for words would have left a trail for me to follow and, well, here we are.
Anxiety
Pins and needles
and broken eggshells
a room full
of rocking chairs
and animal tails
creepy crawly things
and flashlights breaking
through dense woods
oh such things
make even I
dance like bears
in a circus
Humility
The most
valuable yet
tortuous lesson
I’ve learned
is humility
mine came
by way
of bugs
how tiny
I must
be to
have been
bested by
some bugs
Peas
When all
else doesn’t
I default
to you
not by
fault but
by familiar
so similar
we were
being two
little peas
that to
remember not
would be
to forget
Farther
The farther
I go
the less
I need
and wants
become the
folly of
the fools
