I don’t want to
I know I must
I must get up
get dressed get out
and get on with
my early morning routine
of coffee and jazz
and the awaited sunrise
but I stop pausing
to look back at
your back your face
turned away as if
to say just go
So go I do
missing you more with
each step than the
one before the last
Author: Harlan Didrickson
I first started writing this blog as a way to refocus my thinking after a debilitating mental breakdown in 2008. Having been educated in writing, I had hoped that my love for words would have left a trail for me to follow and, well, here we are.
Thread
It takes strength to
not fit in to
stand apart from the
rest to know that
by removing oneself from
the fray that you
will be but a
thread and never a
garment being a garment
is nice looked at
tried on bought and
worn and then discarded
for the next garment
Oh but being a
thread allows you freedom
never woven never worn
never had and never
made old and forgotten
I want to be
forever a thread I
want my beginning and
my end I want
to find my needle
and there my dance
being important to him
SomethingToo
There’s just something
just something about
something about jazz
about jazz and
clouds and coffee
and my cigar
but the something
that’s even better
than just something
is that when
I’m done with
these somethings then
I get to
go back upstairs
to you my
only real something
Bottom
The bottom is a
funny place for it’s
never where you’d expect
The bottom constantly moves
either up or down
and sometimes even sideways
and even when you
think that you’ve reached
it it’s not there
Maybe there is no
bottom but rather a
series of lower ups
that trick us into
thinking that everything can
always be better though
it seldom really is
OtherSensesBesidesI
I’m only ever as
handsome as someone else
thinks that I am
which often is not
at all and infrequently
is a few times
but how many times
have books been skipped
because of their covers
before their words were
ever read or how
many dishes on a
buffet have been avoided
because they weren’t attractive
perhaps we’d all be
better off blind having
to decide on whether
or not we desire
something based upon how
it feels or tastes
