So many things 
have happened recently 
soul things love 
things past and 
present and future 
things that things 
as they were
and as they 
are and as
they once again 
might be have 
given me the 
peace as promised 
in my present 
with its harmony 
of soul and 
heart and mind

I yearn to shiver 
like I do when 
I hear Holst or
Richter or even Tchaikovsky 
I long to yearn 
like I do when 
I hear Debussy or
Satie or even Chopin
I long to dance 
like I do when 
I hear Summers or
Michaels or even Lizzo 
I wish to sing
like I always do 
when I’m with you 

The snow lightens first 
and then disappears quickly 
like original sin is 
removed by holy water 
and a little while 
later the rest of 
ones sins the mountains 
are slowly cautiously revealed 
as the sun’s truth 
begins to expose them 
and the day becomes 
the penance of night 

Let those 
things go
make room 
for new
memories do 
what memories 
must haunt 
they remind
they reminisce 
what they 
don’t do 
is dream 
for dreams 
belong here 

It’s strange this 
making peace with 
the past it’s 
unclear and unknown 
the weight which 
we carry drag 
or keep moving 
it around as
though somehow it’s 
important when in
fact it’s not 
when in fact 
it is gone 
no better than 
just another memory 
of another summer 
some pasts do
make it into 
the present but 
only when they’re 
welcomed and never 
when they have 
over stayed it
