LetMeThisOnce

Let me paint you
draw you with words
as I remember you
not as you are
a long elegant plank
of deep rich ebony
found deep within tree
hiding there behind others
blemished of course front
and back with two
ivory burls that almost
blink as sun catches
and a velvety hand
which all but cascades
like the rain itself
into the deep pools
of your darkened hips
and what’s found there
disappears into cloudy blackness
but what I remember
most is the warmth
whilst I lay upon
as though your timber
absorbed the sun itself

ImagineAutumn

I imagine you
and us here
having once been
you and us
here well maybe
I imagine many
things such as
an eternal Autumn
one whose colors
last forever whose
chill begs warmth
whose naked limbs
once leaf clothed
now pleads embrace
I imagine many
things including you
and your leaves
and me falling

Feels

I often laugh
at almost everything
that you do
that you say
but never ever
what you feel
for those feelings
are your ghosts
haunting only you
with the verve
of the furies
and laying waste
to even hope
we once had

TurnBack

Even the darkest ashes
can ignite a fire
for what was once
can always be again
that is and unless
what once warmed is
now not just forgotten
but also abandoned we
see by eyesight but
remember with heart yet
even hearts grow blind
often covered by scars
please my love turn
around for a scarred
heart’s a heavy one

Humility

If I’ve ever learned
anything it’s been one
of my last lessons
but by far the
most potent and hardest
Humility
That says more about
who you consider yourself
to be than all
of the other riches
of those who consider
themselves to be richest
