Now no longer
new and not
even for sale
I find myself
on the shelf
of some room
marked previously owned
scratch and dent
free to anyone
but I know
I just know
it’s in rooms
just like these
where forgotten masterpieces
are often found
here I’ll wait
here I’ll stay
until someone sees
me that way

Light
To attract
one must
burn but
not rage
warm rather
than heat
crackle and
not roar
be the
same that
would attract
you for
you too
are they
Past
The past
is not
a flame
the closer
the hotter
the past
is air
always around
invisible and
of very
little consequence
Silence
Listen to
the silence
silence isn’t
absent anything
silence has
its sound
silence is
the sound
of everything
filtering out
the nothingness
of your
everyday noise
silence is
only ever
found where
you are
nowhere else
Awaiting
I do know
now that when
I reach Heaven
the trumpets that
I will hear
will be sighs
and the harps
will be whispers
from those who
I have loved
and that God
will be a
child welcoming me
taking my hand
saying come it’s
time to play
