I’ve settled into leaving
The goodbyes have begun
What started as anger
And disappointment at what
Didn’t work hadn’t happened
Has now turned into
What might just work
What might just happen
Positive things really do
Require our most might
I’ve settled into leaving
The goodbyes have begun
What started as anger
And disappointment at what
Didn’t work hadn’t happened
Has now turned into
What might just work
What might just happen
Positive things really do
Require our most might
We almost lost everything
A mutiny was underway
Led by a despot
And joined by lunatics
Marching through the streets
Pitchforks and baseball bats
Weaponizing their own theology
Storming our democracy’s ideals
Pounding at the bastion
Praying for a miracle
And one indeed came
The same as Iran
The same as Russia
The same as Ukraine
GenZ took up arms
And claimed their future
Thank you worldwide GenZ
Earth belongs to you
Love demands courage
It requires heart
To stand there
To say it
Without an echo
To remain standing
Accepting its consequence
To walk away
After hearing nothing
Love never replies
It’s only born
I prefer to whisper
Let the others shout
Whispers mean as much
As all their roars
Tell me who hasn’t
Heard the whispers of
Snow falling or of
Rain on a pond
Or even of sunrise
Let the world holler
And hear me whisper
These very simple poems
My heart to yours
How to say this
When you finally admit
That the life you
Live isn’t the life
You want when you
Are finished playing the
Lead in the comedy
Called your own life
When you decide this
There are no fireworks
But rather miraculous whispering
Of possibilities and optimism
The world heretofore unknown
Becomes teeming with positivity
And all the things
Before unseen in darkness
And you awaken happy
Welcoming the richness of
This your new life
